Juan Villalonga has promised to uphold Valencia's promise to David Villa to give him a pay rise if a suitable offer was not made for him by another club this summer.
The new Mestalla chief has been appointed to sort out the behind-the-scenes mess and one of his first duties is to sift through the assurances made by former president Juan Soler.
One of those was to see Villa's pay packet go up to €3m after tax should no club make an offer that the los Ché find acceptable and the player is keen to stay.
Now Villalonga has stated that he will adhere to that and is due to hold negotiations with the Spanish international star's agent, José Luis Tamargo, this week.
Those talks will end all speculation of a move away from Valencia, despite continuous rumours that one of Europe's biggest clubs would splash the cash on the former Real Zaragoza striker.
Villa has sent mixed signals in recent months having recently declared that he would be happy to stay put, despite earlier telling the media that he was keen to find a different challenge this summer.
There were also reports that the club would be forced to sell one, if not more, of their prize assets to help balance the books after sizeable debts had been run up.
David Silva had also been subject to speculation regarding his time at Mestalla, but a meeting between new coach, Unai Emery, and Villalonga produced an agreement that both he and Villa were vital to the squad.
Now only a bid of €40m or more would see Villa be able to be prised away from the club, where he may not be so keen to leave after the new pay rise is finalised.
