According to Inter president Massimo Moratti, Frank Lampard is torn over a move to Milan or to stay with Chelsea.
Inter made a second bid worth £10million for Lampard last week as they strive to reunite Lampard with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, but Chelsea have not been willing to negotiate and are adamant that the England star will stay at Stamford Bridge.
"Lampard is a very serious lad and certainly he is torn between having the pleasure of something new or having a sense of duty towards his current club," said Moratti.
"In the end it is up to him to find a solution."
Should Inter prove unsuccessful in their bid to bring Lampard to the San Siro, Moratti admits that they have identified alternative transfer targets.
"Lampard is the priority but naturally in cases like this I have been looking around for some time," Moratti told the club's TV station.
"If it is not possible to take Lampard, we would take a player with the most similar characteristics."
