Sunderland manager Roy Keane is hopeful of completing the signing of all four of The Black Cats’ Tottenham targets.
Pascal Chimbonda, Steed Malbranque, Teemu Tainio and Younes Kaboul all travelled north to Wearside on Saturday and Keane, who delayed his flight to Portugal where his team are on their pre-season tour to try and convince the players to put pen to paper with The Black Cats.
Keane saw his team win 3-1 on Sunday – a match in which the fiery Irishman was sent to the stands – and afterwards he expressed optimism that a deal for all four players could be struck.
He admitted: "I was impressed with the four players when I met them before coming out here and hopefully I made a positive impression on them.
"I enjoyed having the opportunity to speak to them and I think we have made some very good offers.
"If anything is going to hold things up now it is a few loose ends between the players and Tottenham.
"You never know what can happen in any deal, but it's that bit more difficult when you are trying to get four from one club.
"The players impressed me greatly and we will see what happens. There are other irons in the fire, too, so it's a busy time."
